Having awarded $904,000 (€650,000) the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will work with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to increase understanding of regulatory systems and support harmonisation.
Furthermore, the organisations will cooperate to prevent, and respond more quickly to, problems in the supply chain. The agreement covers small molecule drugs, biologics, vaccines, medical devices and other products.
“National regulatory agencies play a critical role in ensuring access to safe, effective, quality medical products for patients and consumers,” said FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg.
