The American Peptide Company (APC) says extra capacity at its protein production plant in Vista, California will help meet customer demand for large volume manufacturing.

Under the programme highlighted at BIO 2010 in Chicago APC has installed new purification units and is moving forward with plans to add solution and sold phase synthesis suits.

APC also intends to expand lyophilisation capacity at the plant in order to “enable release of multi-Kg single batches of peptide [active pharmaceutical ingredient] APIs.”

Takahiro Ogata, APC president, explained that: “As the demand for peptide-based therapies increases, we are constantly seeking ways to enhance our operations to better meet customer demands for large volumes.”
