Cambrex shares soar after generic APIs drive Q2 growth

04-Aug-2011

Shares in Cambrex soared 30 per cent after custom manufacturing and generic API sales drove revenue growth.

Revenue was up 18 per cent, although foreign currency exchange accounted for much of this, as Cambrex benefited from an upturn in generic active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) volumes.

We saw increases in revenues for some of our larger custom manufacturing products and continued strong orders for our generic APIs”, Steven Klosk, CEO of Cambrex, said. Speaking later in a call with investors Klosk said generic pricing has been stable, describing it as a “pleasant surprise”.
