In-PharmaTechnologist steps inside Siemen's Digital Experience Centre to learn about the digital services that aim to transform the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals.

Located at the company's facilities in Manchester, Siemens' Digital Experience Centre is a showcase of its offering in digital services, which have the potential to transform the manufacturing processes of pharmaceuticals into the ‘Industry 4.0’ era.

By utilizing a range of technologies including artificial intelligence, cloud services, virtual and augmented reality, and optical character recognition, Siemens aims to optimize and facilitate the operation of manufacturing equipment, allowing customers to reduce time, effort, and costs.

Alwyn Jones, UK head of Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences for Siemens, told us that several potential applications of digital technology are being slowly but steadily integrated, despite the pharmaceutical industry being risk-averse.

The leader of the Siemens' Digitalised Automation Specialists team, James Cottle, showed us around the innovations presented across the Centre, described their functionality and potential, as well as explaining what digitalization the manufacturing process means.
