Intraprise Health creates the BluePrint Protect platform designed to solve cybersecurity challenges across the pharmaceutical supply chain as third-party data sharing accelerates.

The platform enables users to automate third-party risk management processes and use Intraprise Health’s third-party knowledge base through its ‘Third-Party Assessment Cloud.’ With this system, members of a pharmaceutical company’s security team and its third parties can access the platform to collaborate and communicate in real-time.

Sean Friel, CEO of Intraprise, told us, “Health care customers need a centralized, scalable security platform that allows all stakeholders to collaborate more effectively, and visualize risks in a meaningful manner.”

Friel told us that the pharmaceutical sector particularly benefits from the use of a security risk management platform for two primary reasons. The first being, pharma companies and third-parties exchange large volumes of consumer, provider, and pharmaceutical, data that is personally identifiable, making the need for security greater, especially within the supply chain.

He added, “The explosion of the health tech sector has launched hundreds of new companies that access, store, manage, and process health data. BluePrint Protect addresses the lack of resources and expertise required to tackle the growing threats to health information and data.”

Friel explained that the software platform includes alerts, notifications, and task management features designed to automate workflows that can be seen by internal stakeholders and supply chain users. These workflows prompt all users to ensure security assessments are being made and approvals are completed on time.

The second reason pharma companies benefit from this type of platform is its ability to enable users to meet the evolving privacy laws that require an underlying security program, he said.

According to Friel, platforms like BluePrint Protect can help secure the pharmaceutical supply chain by connecting users and integrating systems through the entire security risk assessment process. With this function, all supply chain stakeholders are aware of the progress and risks associated with each third-party vendor.

“Data breaches and lack of confidence about security and privacy can have a big impact on the pharma industry,” said Friel.

He stated that the BluePrint Protect software is the first-ever health care- focused workflow automation and visualization platform and was designed especially for third-party risk management.

“Unlike other horizontal software products, it was built by health care cybersecurity experts for health care security teams,” Friel added.
