Schreiner will provide three new UV protective labels, without sacrificing inspection ability for biologics and other light-sensitive products.

Schreiner MediPharm’s, a Germany-based label solutions provider, newest portfolio includes three protective labels that ensure protection against UV and light irradiation, while still allowing caregivers and users to confirm the liquid inside is in the intended condition.

All three label concepts can be adapted to meet the requirements of the respective substance, allowing manufacturers of light-sensitive products to be able to effectively protect substances against irradiation.

Traditionally, light-sensitive substances are often filled into brown glass vials to protect them against UV irradiation and light. However, a drawback of this is that the original color of the liquid is no longer discernible and the medicine cannot be visually inspected for particles or color changes before dispensing.

Schreiner’s labels are designed for three levels of protection: level one labels have a transparent inspection window with UV protection; level two labels are equipped with a semi-transparent but colored window and reclosable inspection window; level three labels consist of an opaque label material for complete light protection, with an additional reclosable inspection window.
