The Spanish National Police has uncovered three secret laboratories and seized ‘thousands of cartons’ of counterfeit medicines, says Europol.

According to the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation – better known as Europol – Spain’s police force has dismantled three clandestine laboratories, arrested 29 people, and searched 15 houses in Madrid, Valencia and Malaga.

More than five million doses were retrieved. According to Europol, “the raw material was imported from China and, once in Spain, transferred to the laboratories where the final product was made.

“The doses were distributed in several gyms in Madrid and internationally through the Netherlands.”

Police also seized ‘thousands of cartons’ of counterfeit medicines, €35k in cash, and illicit drugs including liquid testosterone, cocaine, heroin and speed.

Europol provided data analysis and information exchange to the Spanish Police Force throughout the investigation, and helped coordinate meetings between international authorities.
