Rephine says its online Quality Assurance database transforms the lengthy active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) pre-selection process to just a couple of clicks.

In 2016, consultancy firm Rephine told this publication it was looking to address the burden of finding and validating an ingredient supplier through an online API sourcing platform, and this month the firm has launched its offering RephineSourcing.com.

The online database contains what the firm says is a comprehensive set of audit reports from API makers, allowing pharma firms to easily source ingredients from GMP approved facilities.

According to CEO Gaëlle Jaron, while there are other online search platforms which look at the pricing point of active ingredients, this is the first portal to provide complete Quality Assurance (QA) documentation displaying “who does what and under which compliance level.”

She told in-Pharmatechnologist it is Rephine’s core business to retain full records of API quality documentation and this is now being offered to drugmakers as a timesaving sourcing tool.

“We decrease the time to market by shrinking the pre-selection process from two months on average to a couple of clicks,” she said. “We increase transparency related to the compliance level on the API market, we de facto structure data and make it available to them in a practical way.”

The platform also brings benefits to accredited API vendors, she added:

“We increase efficiency in the dispatch of QA documents and enhance traceability of the information provided. We make the information flow proactive. Lastly, but most importantly, we help increasing sales.”

While the platform is mainly focused on APIs, Jaron told us the firm is looking to expand towards excipients in the medium term.
