Safic-Alcan has partnered with Turkish API, excipients and chemical distributor Marmara Ecza to expand its presence in the country.

The deal – financial terms of which were not disclosed – will see Marmara Ecza store and distribute Safic-Alcan’s range of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients and related chemicals from its warehouse in the capital, Istanbul.

Safic-Alcan has been building its presence in the Turkish market since 2011, when it acquired a majority stake in Interplast. Paris-based Safic-Alcan bought Interplast outright in 2016.

According to Safic-Alcan CEO Philippe Combette “This joint venture is in line with our strategy of global sector diversification and is a further step in bolstering our presence in Turkey.”

Marmara Ecza distributes products for companies like Evonik, Meggle, Ashland and Roquette to manufacturers in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical industries.
