The company said the RNx integrated sachet system, developed by its subsidiary Sigpack, also offers high-speeds, a compact footprint and efficient packaging for both food and pharmaceutical applications. The system for primary and secondary packaging offers sachet packing, sealing and cartoning for powders, granulates, pellets and piece goods.
“This further development was a response to the market demand for integrated and flexible solutions, with fewer system interfaces and high system efficiency”, Sigpack Systems product manager Holger Botsch told FoodProductionDaily.com. “There is an increased need for system solutions from a single supplier. This means clients just need to deal with one supplier for issues related to spare parts or maintenance advice."
The single system approach also leads to a reduction in downtime, faster start-ups and less maintenance, he added.
The company said it offers a high degree of customisation to optimise its ability to meet the needs of individual clients.
The equipment has the ability to process 1,000 sachets a minute and “reliably delivers high-quality pouches”, said the company.
Its compact design means the RNx has a smaller footprint – which leads to reduced operating costs. The integrated system offers potential to reduce the number of operators as its primary and secondary packaging functions are linked., said the porduct manager.
The system has been designed for higher end food applications such as coffee and baking ingredients. It is also capable of handling the entire dosing and packaging process while meeting pharmaceutical industry standards and ensures product quality through gentle handling. With its dosing module, the RNx offers the options of auger fillers for difficult flowing powders and granulates, or a tipping filler for free-flowing goods.
An integrated weight control system (WCS) ensures 100 per cent in-line weight control and reduces product giveaway, said Botsch. It also provides constant process management data and eliminates the need for manual sampling, he added.
Faulty products are automatically ejected via a dump gate to ensure high product quality. In the sealing module, extended sealing times create tight and reliable pouch seals. Higher throughput rates of 125 cycles per minute are maintained as the system has sealing modules that move with the packaging operation.
Products are accurately and quickly positioned for secondary packaging thanks to a gripper in the stacking unit. Products can be packed via of side loading, toploading or flow wrapping while the cartoning section packs single or double stacks of sachets intermittently at an output of up to 100 cartons per minute, said a company statement.
The system is customised to the needs of individual clients and, thanks to its modular design, is characterised by its flexibility in providing packaging solutions for a wide range of free-flowing substances, pouch sizes and carton formats. Further customization can be carried out to include optional modules such as leaflet insertion, carton coding, carton rejection and an after-cartoning checkweigher.
The system is also east to operate thanks to a touch screen facility that provides a clear and visible depiction of product flow and process, said Bosch.
