PTI’s non-destructive micro leak tester can cut costs for companies using dye ingress, according to general manager Heinz Wolf, who demonstrated the technology to in-PharmaTechnologist at Interphex.

The technology can test for leaks in prefilled syringes, vials, ampoules, blisters and other packaging used by the pharmaceutical industry. Dye ingress tests have been used traditionally for detecting leaks in these containers but Wolf believes PTI’s technology has numerous benefits.

Since it is non-destructive Wolf believes PTI’s leak tester can save companies money and this has resulted in it receiving a “lot of interest”, although the newness of the product means its success will be better judged at the end of the year.
