Characterization of hydrolysates to enhance CHO cell culture process understanding

Published:06-Jul-2010
Format:PDF file
Type:Case Study

Undefined components, such as protein hydrolysates, are routinely used in biopharmaceutical production to boost the growth and productivity of cells in culture. Due to regulatory concerns and variability associated with these components, a need for chemically defined basal formulations has emerged.

To meet this need, SAFC has developed a novel chemically defined (CD) formulation that yields both good growth and productivity for cultured CHO cells. EX-CELL® CD Hydrolysate Fusion offers enhanced performance in batch culture and replaces the function of hydrolysates in many CHO cell systems.
