Software manufacturers The Wercs has announced the launch of an automated approval process module to streamline formal chemical requests and approvals for manufacturers using and storing chemicals.
The Wercs Chemical Approval Process enables secured feedback between different users who can also benefit from the improved chemical search process. The module can request approvals and route requests to relevant departments, sending automatic e-mails if necessary.
Currently, all new chemicals have to be evaluated through a defined chemical approval process. This process generally involves multiple departments (EH&S, corporate, administrative, etc.). These variables, plus the multiple departments and the disparate sources of data, makes the chemical approval process very time consuming.
Lou DeSorbo, president of The Wercs, said the company was providing a method which consolidated relevant data needed to make decisions and linking this data using a secure communication channel.
The Chemical Approval Process module also enables location specific requests, helps to assign product attributes for material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and ties into the widely used SARA chemical inventory database. In addition, this new module can be customised to an organisation's specific needs and workflow.
He added: "The module will not only increase speed of the approval process, it will also allow an organisation to have greater control of their inventory. We are confident that the industry will continue to move towards this electronic approval process method."
