German healthcare packaging group Gerresheimer says operations at its new Brazilian plant will begin in the near future.
The facility, in Indaiatuba, Sao Paulo, will produce insulin pen systems and ship them to Novo Nordisk’s manufacturing facility in Montes Claros, in neighbouring Minas Gerais state.
CEO Axel Herberg said: "Cooperation with Novo Nordisk in Brazil is of substantial strategic importance for us. We support the customer in developing new markets and at the same time expand our technological base in South America."
The firm, which did not respond to in-PharmaTechnolgist’s request for additional information, already owns two other pharmaceutical packaging plants in Brazil and one in Argentina.
