President-elect Donald Trump has asked noted vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to chair a commission to investigate vaccine safety.

As in-PharmaTechnologist.com previously reported, US public health programs will use lower dose vaccine administered over longer periods from 2017 if Trump sticks to his proposal outlined last year – and all seems to be going according to plan with today’s most recent development.

According to video captured by The Washington Post outside of Trump Tower in New York, Robert Kennedy Jr. said the meeting “went very well.”

He asked me to chair a commission on vaccines,” the retired Marine Gen. told members of the press.

The commission will specifically examine vaccine safety and “scientific integrity.”

Kennedy said that Trump has “some doubts” about the current vaccine policies, which the president-elect has expressed openly in the past.

His doubts have been documented – making many wary of the appointment.

In conjunction with today’s news, the American Academy of Pediatrics released a statement emphasizing the safety and importance of vaccines.

“In response to news reports today suggesting a possible new federal commission on immunizations, the American Academy of Pediatrics reiterates that vaccines protect children's health and save lives,” the statement reads.

They prevent life-threatening diseases, including forms of cancer. Vaccines have been part of the fabric of our society for decades and are the most significant medical innovation of our time.”
