The new facility, at Promega’s campus in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, will focus on production of the firm’s range of molecular diagnostics components and technologies. The unit will also house a client service centre.
Promega was not available for comment ahead of publication.
According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal the project will cost some $42m (€29m). The paper also said that, according to Promega corporate affairs director Penny Patterson, the firm had also been considering Shanghai, China as a location for the new plant.
