MSD India, Merck & Co’s local subsidiary, plans to recruit an additional 300 staff this year to help it gear up for the launch of new vaccines for rotavirus, hepatitis A and herpes.
The firm currently employs a research staff of 700 and has identified oncology, neurology, metabolics, cardiovascular and critical care as areas in which it wants to expand.
Merck’s managing director Naveen Rao told India’s Business Standard that the recruitment drive should be completed by December adding that, while it has no concrete plans, the company is also considering setting up a manufacturing base.
