Japanese regulators have arrived in Canada to begin investigating reports that GSK’s H1N1 vaccine has been linked to a number of allergic reactions.
The Ministry of Health Labour and Welfare (MHLW) team, which arrived in the country late yesterday, will examine Health Canada’s response to the problem according to a report on the AFP newswire.
The Japanese government has ordered 37m doses of GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) vaccine as part of its response to the ongoing H1N1 pandemic, with delivery expected to take place next month.
Last week, when news of the allergic reactions first emerged, a GSK spokesperson told in-Pharmatechnologist that the UK firm is working with Health Canada officials to further examine the reports.
