The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) has launched Grant-it to help member companies, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), access European Union (EU) funding.

Christian Jourquin, CEO of Solvay and Cefic president, explained that the European chemical industry has “been through a very deep crisis” and suffered because of foreign competition. To increase competitiveness Jourquin believes European companies need to innovate.

To support this Cefic has established Grant-it. This is free service that provides information about how to access the €700m ($870m) of funding offered by the EU and build consortiums with academia and other businesses to make optimum use of these investments.
