India's Shasun Chemicals & Dugs has appointed Dr Norbert Dieterich as president of its UK subsidiary Shasun Pharma Solutions Limited (SPSL).
Dr Dieterich will now be responsible for the overall management of Shasun's European and North American operations including the new Development Centre in Piscataway, New Jersey. This is a process development facility in that will be scaled to provide active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) development services in the preclinical and clinical phases in North America.
Prior to the appointment, Dr Dieterich has been serving as the CEO of Archemica International, a private pharmaceutical fine chemicals company.
N Govindarajan, CEO of Shasun Chemicals said that the appointment "reflects our commitment to expand SPSL's business and customer base".
Commenting on his new job, Dr Dieterich said that his vision for SPSL is that of a trans-continental business partner "offering the best of the east and the west in pharmaceutical solutions".
In the past week, Patheon has appointed Terry Novak as president of its North American Operations, as well as chief marketing officer.
Novak will be expected to manage and grow Patheon's North American network of commercial manufacturing operations, which includes three plants in Canada, three in Puerto Rico and one in Cincinnati, US.
Most recently, Novak was President of DSM Pharmaceuticals, the contract manufacturing business arm of Netherlands-based Royal DSM.
UK's Tepnel Research Products & Services has recently boosted its pharmaceutical services team based in Livingston, Scotland with three key new appointments.
Having worked for over 20 years in the field of drug metabolism and bioanalysis, Dr William Herron joins the firm as Laboratory Manager for Bioanalytical Services, where his additional responsibilities will include developing cost effective regulatory solutions in the division whilst increasing the mass spectrometry capabilities of the company.
Dr Emma Waite, who has over 10 years experience in monoclonal antibodies through academic research, diagnostic development and pharmaceutical development, has also been employed to establish and manage Tepnel's new Biopharmaceutical Services laboratory.
In addition, having worked with Tepnel's Pharmaceutical Services division as a principal investigator for Bio-Analytical Services, Chris Miller has now moved to the role of Business Development Manager for BioAnalytical and BioPharmaceutical services, the firm said.
In other personnel movements, ClinPhone has just brought Paula McHale on board as director of product management for its Data Management Solutions division.
In this role, McHale will focus on the company's electronic data capture (EDC) offerings, as well as furthering the development of ClinPhone's integrated solutions, specifically its combined EDC and IVR/IWR (randomization and trial supply management) solution, said the company.
Prior to joining ClinPhone, Paula served as the worldwide director of EDC Solutions at the contract research organisation (CRO) Parexel.
Incidentally, the eClinical provider this week declined a preliminary offer by Parexel to purchase the firm for an undisclosed sum.
UK-based ClinPhone said that its board rejected the CRO's offer as it believed the indicated value "materially undervalued the group and its prospects".
Meanwhile, PharmEng has revealed that John Carkner has been made president of the Arnprior, Ontario manufacturing site belonging to its subsidiary Keata Pharma. In addition to the Ontario facilitiy, Keata also has Canadian pharmaceutical contract manufacturing plants in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Prior to his new responsibilities with Keata, John held senior roles in manufacturing for Pfizer Canada, most recently as site leader for Pfizer Canada's manufacturing operations at Arnprior, Ontario.
