Promega will start work on a US manufacturing facility later this month in a project expected to create 100 jobs over the next five years.
The new facility, at Promega’s campus in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, will focus on production of the firm’s range of molecular diagnostics components and technologies. The unit will also house a client service centre.
Promega was not available for comment ahead of publication.
According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal the project will cost some $42m (€29m). The paper also said that, according to Promega corporate affairs director Penny Patterson, the firm had also been considering Shanghai, China as a location for the new plant.
