Phoenix Chemicals will re-open a chemicals manufacturing plant in Scotland less than a year after it was closed by former owner Shasun Pharma Solutions.

The facility, in Annan in the South East of the country, will recruit a staff of 58 employees over the next three years in a £4m (€4.4m) project that is being supported by a £400,000 regional assistance grant.

Colin Leece, CEO of Wirral, England-based Phoenix, said the firm was its acquisition of the facility and added that “we already have a small team hard at work on the challenges of bringing this facility back on line as an operational plant.”

Phoenix utilises novel continuous processing technology to manufacture a range of products for the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
