Under the contract, the Dutch drug delivery specialist will help Axentis pharma develop manufacturing processes for an inhalable liposomal formulation of the antibiotic tobramycin. Octoplus will also manufacture supplies of the drug for future clinical trials.
Switzerland-based Axentis’ candidate uses the firm’s patented Fluidosomes technology to improve the treatment of bacterial lung infections using an inhalable, liposomal delivery mechanism.
Octoplus said that the deal, financial terms of which are not being disclosed, will contribute towards the projected €19m revenue it expects to earn this year.
