Germany's Vivascience has expanded its product range for researchers working in the area of proteomics. In addition to its existing products for 2D-PAGE (two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) sample preparation, Vivascience is now also offering spin columns for sample preparation prior to mass spectrometry.

The new Vivapure C18 Micro spin columns contain an innovative C18-membrane and are intended for concentration, purification and desalting of peptides prior to analysis, according to the company.

All steps are performed under standardised working conditions in a centrifuge, giving rise to highly reproducible resultsm claism Vivascience. The spin columns allow processing of relatively large sample volumes - up to 200 microlitres can be loaded per centrifuge run. Elution is performed in 3 microlitres and can also be carried out with matrix containing solutions.

Vivascience says that the new product range is particularly useful for the preparation of mass spectrometry samples like MALDI, MALDI-TOF and ESI samples. And the centrifugal format offers convenient handling of several samples in parallel and minimal hands on time without tedious pipetting.
