Prosonix scales-up UMAX for respiratory drugs

01-Apr-2010

Prosonix says UMAX is “technology of choice” for respiratory API production after successfully scaling-up the particle engineering tech for multiple compounds in GMP quality facilities.

CEO David Hipkiss told Outsourcing-pharma the firm, which launched UMAX earlier this month , has now made “kg quantities” of a number of respiratory drug actives including fenoterol hydrobromide and fluticasone propionate.

Hipkiss also said that, in collaboration with Swiss contract manufacturing organisation (CMO) Micro-Sphere, Prosonix has used UMAX to produce “a new innovative pharmaceutical inhalation compound,” but could not provide details for reasons of client confidentiality.

He added that this most recent achievement “further de-risks our novel particle engineering approach and proves beyond doubt that UMAX is here to stay.”
