Under a new agreement, SK Chemicals will use Xcellerex’ FlexFactory biomanufacturing platform to commercialise anti-infective products for both its home territory South Korea and international markets.
SK CEO Chang Geun Kim predicted that the technology will accelerate the development of candidates in the firm’s pipeline, the most advanced of which are an influenza treatment and a conjugate pneumococcal vaccine.
And, while specifics are still to be worked out, CEO Guy Broadbent said Xcellerex’ “Transplant model”, in which manufacturing is moved to a partners’ facility after initiation at his firm’s soon to be expanded plant in Massachusetts, was key to the deal.
