Millipore launches single-use ChromaSorb

Millipore has launched its single-use ChromaSorb membrane adsorber, which binds negative impurities from host cell protein (HCP), DNA, endotoxins, and viruses at high salt concentrations.

The ability to operate at higher salt concentrations than traditional resins and membranes removes the need for users to dilute feedstreams prior to processing, avoiding the downstream bottleneck of buffer tank capacity.

In addition the disposability has advantages, which Paul Chapman, Millipore's vice president, downstream processing, explained: “Disposables remove the high upfront capital costs of biomanufacturing hardware such as columns, chromatography systems, and buffer tanks, and significantly reduce validation requirements, labor and overhead."
