Evonik Degussa Gmbh has acquired the Amperkat business from HC Starck, enhancing its range of catalysts used in the production of pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals.

The acquisition covers the know-how and technology for the production and application of a range of activated nickel sponge metal catalysts, also called skeleton-metal catalysts, and customised carrier catalysts.

Production of the catalysts will continue to take place at HC Starck’s site in Laufenburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany until Evonik transfers operations to its facility in Hanau, Germany.

Following completion of the transfer the eight employees working at the site in Laufenburg will be found jobs in other areas of the site.
