Security Holograms of the US is gearing up to launch a new range of security products designed to protect a range of items from counterfeiting and tampering.

The company is in the last stages of producing holographic, tamper-evident shrink sleeves and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) caps for bottles, according to UK packaging consultancy Pira.

Another new product takes the form of custom-made, laser printable hologram sheets that will allow companies to print their logo or required information onto holograms in their own facilities.

Samples of the hologram sheets are due to be sent out to the 250 potential customers who have enquired about them by August, according to Pira.

Security Holograms is already talking to a Singapore-based company about using the shrink sleeves on bottles to combat problems with warranties and counterfeits. The new products will initially be marketed over the internet and by emails to the company's established client base.

Literature, such as brochures, to accompany the products is being finalised and should be available by the fourth quarter of this year. Security Holograms is a division of the United States Center of Marketing .

Holograms have been put forward as a potential anti-counterfeiting solution for a range of high-value products, including pharmaceuticals. The holograms are designed to give a visual cue of authenticity that will be hard for the drug fakers to copy.
