Nuvo Research has presented positive Phase III results for Pennsaid (diclofenac sodium solution), which uses the company’s transdermal drug delivery technology.
Pennsaid is an osteoporosis treatment that is applied topically, penetrating to the target region using Nuvo’s multiplexed molecular penetration enhancer (MMPE) technology.
MMPE interacts with molecules in the stratum corneum to modify the permeability of the skin. By administering the therapeutic topically instead of orally smaller doses can be used with fewer side effects, according to Nuvo.
