The acquired bioreactors will be used at the plant-expressed vaccine production facility G-Con, a member of the consortium, is building in Bryan, Texas, US. At the facility G-Con intends to show proof-of-concept for large-scale vaccine production using Nicotiana plants.
Installing the XDR good manufacturing practice (GMP) production bioreactors will allow Project GreenVax to grow a variety of organisms it needs to support operations.
“The XDR system was selected for several reasons, including competitive capital costs, and a lower overall operating cost compared to that of conventional steam-in-place reactors", said Barry Holtz, president of G-Con.
