Nanoparticles have been guided by a magnet to deliver their active agent when they reach a tumor, reducing the toxic effect on the rest of the body.

A collaboration between Siemens and physicians at the University Hospital of Erlangen, Germany created and tested the 100nm particles, which have been effective in tests on animals.

The research demonstrated the nanoparticles could completely counteract a tumor with one fifth of the usual drug dosages and without side-effects.
