The company wants to bolster its US presence as the next stage in its ambition of becoming a global player in the supply of chemicals for the life science industries.
While it has been active in chemicals and intermediates since 1978, Jubilant is a recent entrant into the market for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). It made its debut in the sector in 2002, but this year's acquisitions of Pharmaceutical Services and PSI Supply NV (PSI) for €13.5 million in cash represented an acceleration in this effort and a shift into finished formulations and generics, as well as regulatory affairs services.
Jubilant's chairman and managing director, Shyam Bhartia told Indian newspaper The Hindu that the company is looking at possible acquisitions in the US and South America to improve supply into the US market.
Meanwhile, the company is planning to broaden the reach of its custom research and manufacturing services (CRAMS) business, which currently relies heavily on pyridine chemistry, with new activities in chiral chemistry and bioconversions.
