In first quarter results Teva reported a year-on-year dip in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) sales to third parties, from $158m (€120m) to $149m, but total net sales grew by sixteen per cent.

API sales to third parties are a small part of Teva’s income and consequently the dip had little impact on overall revenues. Driven by strong sales of Copaxone (glatiramer acetate), which totalled $796m, Teva recorded net revenues of $3.7bn.

Teva has 210 product applications, including 44 tentative approvals, awaiting final approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Brand products covered by these applications have annual US sales of more than $113bn.
