Synageva BioPharma and to-BBB technologies are collaborating on transporting therapeutic proteins across the blood-brain barrier (B-BB).
The research will assess the use of G-Technology, a delivery system using pegylated liposomes, to administer therapeutic proteins across the B-BB.
“to-BBB’s brain delivery technology combined with Synageva’s significant rare disease expertise should result in substantial progress towards the development of innovative medicines for untreated CNS diseases”, said Pieter Gaillard, chief scientific officer of to-BBB.
The collaboration will form the basis of a rare disease treatment development programme covering multiple therapeutic areas, including lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs).
