The agreement follows a two year working relationship during which Arecor demonstrated the potential of its technologies in protein formulation. Genzyme and Arecor will now work to develop stable, high strength formulations of labile biomolecules.
Robert Mattaliano, group vice president of therapeutic protein R&D at Genzyme, added: "The Arecor technology has a demonstrated potential to significantly improve the stability of complex biologicals by using novel formulation design principles.”
Arecor has developed a set of tools for stabilisation. Using these Arecor can create labile biologicals as stable aqueous formulations, even at high concentrations or when cold storage is impractical.
