G-Con Manufacturing and GE Healthcare plan to collaborate on development of modular portable bio-process production technology.
Development of the technology will use biopharm production technology expertise from GE and portable cleanroom technology from G-Con to create an affordable, quick to build system.
Between them the companies have the capabilities to design, build and deliver turnkey biomanufacturing facilities throughout the world. This can be used to quickly respond to a pandemic or to establish production capacity in emerging markets.
“This collaboration means we move further towards our vision of modular and possibly mobile flexible biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities -- the vaccine factory in a box”, said Nigel Darby, vice president, biotechnologies, GE.
