KV Pharmaceutical Company has begun laying off 700 of its employees as it attempts to cut-costs in response to current difficulties.
The company plans to recall some employees when it resumes production and shipping of its products, which have been voluntarily recalled.
David Van Vliet, interim President and CEO, said: "KV Pharmaceutical plans to emerge from these challenges on a solid foundation of a smaller, more focused organization and the return to providing excellent products to our customers."
