Cephalon begins recall after glass flakes found in vial
Cephalon is recalling a single lot of leukaemia treatment Treanda after glass fragments were found in a vial.
The affected lot of Treanda (bendamustine HCL), a treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, was distributed between March and October 2011. Anyone possessing vials from the lot, TB30111, is advised to quarantine the product for return.
Discovery of fragments in the Treanda lot follows a series of glass vial-related recalls in recent years. Since 2010 Amgen, Sandoz, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Baxter have all recalled products after glass flakes were found in their vials.
